Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Neighbr platform operated by Commonfield Systems Inc. (“Commonfield Systems,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using the Platform you agree to be bound by these Terms.
The Platform
Neighbr is a map-native Civic Operating System that connects residents, businesses, institutions, BIAs, community organizations, and public offices. The Platform is operated by Commonfield Systems Inc., a Canadian corporation, and is hosted in Canada.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Platform. By using the Platform you represent that you meet this requirement. Institutional accounts require an authorized representative of the organization.
Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to provide accurate and complete information when creating your account. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
Acceptable use
You agree to use the Platform only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms and our Community Guidelines. You agree not to: post false, misleading, or fraudulent content; impersonate any person, institution, business, or public office; harass, threaten, or harm other users; use the Platform to distribute spam or unsolicited communications; attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Platform or its systems; use the Platform in any way that violates applicable Canadian or local law.
Civic content
Content posted to the Platform related to civic matters — including issues, polls, alerts, and institutional communications — must be accurate to the best of your knowledge. Deliberate misinformation about civic matters or public institutions is a violation of these Terms and may result in account suspension or removal.
Intellectual property
The Neighbr name, logo, and Platform design are the property of Commonfield Systems Inc. Content you post to the Platform remains yours, but you grant Commonfield Systems a licence to display and distribute that content through the Platform for the purposes of operating the civic features you have chosen to use.
Verified presence
Institutional accounts, business accounts, and public office accounts are subject to a verification process. Claiming to represent an institution, business, or public office you do not represent is a serious violation of these Terms and may result in permanent account removal and referral to appropriate authorities.
Limitation of liability
The Platform is provided on an “as is” basis. To the extent permitted by applicable Canadian law, Commonfield Systems is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform.
Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms, applicable law, or our Community Guidelines, with or without notice depending on the severity of the violation.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable federal laws of Canada. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario.
